Changing your Apple ID region, without the pain

Changing your App Store country is four taps on paper: Settings, your name, Media & Purchases, Country/Region. In practice most people never reach that menu, because Apple quietly enforces one condition — no money may be left on the account.

The balance isn't zero, yet spending it is physically impossible. Apple doesn't explain this; the country button simply stops working.
